Thanks to the 99 cent Marvel Unlimited promotion I took advantage of earlier this month, I have a lot of digital comics to read. Chris pointed out a very good series, Runaways, written by Brian K Vaughan. He wrote Y The Last Man, which is the only comic that has ever made me cry (because it a fantastic series).

Anyway, I spent most of the day going through the comic series. I'm about half way through it now, and I'm loving it. It is much better than the Guardians of The Galaxy series I read earlier in the week, partially because it doesn't spend every page referring to some massive cross-over or other comic series I'm not familiar with.

I've noticed a lot of comics aren't actually accessible to people just coming into them. You either need to start from the beginning (which is impossible with most series by Marvel or DC) or have someone (like Chris) who can give you back story so whatever you read makes sense.

I've found that for the most part if I'm going to read comics over books, I'm going to read something from Vertigo (DC's non-super hero comic line) or Image Comics, since they seem to have more comic series that have a contained (or semi-contained) universe.
