I logged in and played a bit of Guild Wars 2, which I haven't done for ages. I have so much junk in my inventory I spent at least 30 minutes organizing things trying to figure out if stuff was worth keeping or not.

I've been enjoying the Guild Wars 2 Halloween event. This year they added a cute little mini, Zuzu, cat of Darkness. Well, with a name like that I had to farm enough candy corn to get one. Now I can run around with a not-so-scary little kitten.

I spent a lot of time playing some more Guild Wars 2. I did read a book (it was a short book), but mostly I just played around in the Halloween event.

Who doesn't want to do battle with a giant candy corn?

Not much has changed since last year, but I still can't resist playing halloween events in MMOs. It makes up for being too old to Trick-or-Treat.

Spent a chunk of the morning playing some Guild Wars 2. It's been awhile since I've played my lower alts, so it was fun to run around and blow things up with the little Ausra (which is gnome-size).

I spent part of the morning working through the latest living world installment in Guild Wars 2. Not a bad way to avoid the heat today.

The next chapter in Season 2 of Guild Wars 2's Living World started today. Vines everywhere!

It's been a lazy day. I played some Guild Wars 2, watched a lot of soccer, and hung around. My kind of Saturday.

Guild Wars 2 launched season 2 of it's Living World this week. It's been awhile since I've played, so I popped in for a bit. They've added a new zone, complete with sandstorms. Weather effects are always awesome to see in game.
In the evening we tried to light some sparklers Chris had picked up awhile back. None of them worked. So..we wandered around the neighborhood.

It's a little disturbing to see aerial fireworks being set off in a neighborhood so heavily wooded. Chris has a post on his blog about it as well (and that's where I stole the above photo from). This is the first year it actually freaked the cat out too.

Guild Wars 2 has been moving along, steadily adding content every two weeks to the game. Some of it I've really enjoyed, some of it I've missed, and some of it is focused more on PvP, which I don't play as much.

I still like to log in and check out the new content, so even though I missed the last few parts of their Scarlet story line, I still logged in to check out their cinematics and celebrations. I didn't play for very long, but I did run around to check things out.

For a game that doesn't have a monthly subscription, I think they add a fair amount of regular content.

The next patch in the long saga of the Guild Wars 2 villain Scarlet came out today, so I popped into the game to check things out. This time she's invaded the main human city Lion's Arch (which serves as the main city in the game).
They even set parts of the town on fire! Nice touch.

It's my favorite time of the year in MMOs! Halloween events start this week, which means there are plenty of haunted doors to open...
and giant candy corns to battle in Guild Wars 2.

Spending part of the playing playing Guild Wars 2.

I don't like doing a lot of farming (doing something over and over for an item/money/etc)  in MMOs. But when Guild Wars 2 adds content like what they have for the next few weeks, the Crown Pavilion, I can't seem to not farm. I don't mind using my lower level, non-main characters (aka alts) to run around and smack things with a virtual stick. So that's pretty much what I did after work tonight.

A new patch landed today in Guild Wars 2. This time it's a celebration in the human area, complete with giant fighting pit broken out into different themes such as tropical (with pirates), forest (with bandits), and volcanic (with angry Charr).
They're doing a lot to keep the game fresh and fun. I'm really impressed with the bi-weekly content they've been putting out.

Spent a few hours trying to relax after work by bouncing around different zones in Guild Wars 2.

With the recent Cuthroat Politics patch, the Guild Wars 2 team introduced a Hunger Games-style death-match mini-game called Southsun Survival. Essentially you all start in front of a roaring bonfire, which is surrounded by supplies while a timer counts down. When the timer hits zero, you rush forth to claim supplies and kill your opponents. Last man standing wins.

I die. A lot.

As an added bonus if you go and hide from everyone you eventually starve to death.

Spent the evening with some Guild Wars 2, questing across the ice.

So earlier this week Guild Wars 2 launched some new content for July - Bazaar of the Four Winds. It feels like there's one part Cantha injected into the whole thing, which is nice since I would love to see more Elona and Cantha content in Guild Wars 2. Elona especially. I loved that section of the Guild Wars world.

Anyway, there is a zephyr flying high in the sky...
...crazy heights to scale to collect crystals...
...and new items to score at the end of jumping puzzles. I'm not good at or a fan of jumping puzzles, but I've been having some success and fun with this new content.
In fact, I'm having enough success that I'm willing to scale other things not related to the new content. If this latest patch has done anything for me, it's taught me that I can and will scale ridiculous heights with my norn for no reason other than I feel confident that I can.

So I've been enjoying Guild Wars 2 off an on today and throughout the week. It's an amazing online game and the fact that it has zero monthly subscription makes it gold to me. Not everything added is just a holiday or temporary content, and that's what is really awesome to me. There is regularly added content that continues to shape and change the environment and that's honestly not something you see with online games outside of an expansion you have to pay for (which there will also be for this game, no doubt).
