It's the weekend and what better way to start it than a trip to the Renaissance Festival?
We were only there for a few hours, but the little one had an amazing time running around with the other kids and visiting the mermaid.

We left early this morning for Holly, MI and the annual Michigan Renaissance Festival!
We all dressed up, including Quinn in his little pirate costume.
We did a lot of running around, checking out all the sights, including the mermaid which Quinn was afraid of.

We left and stopped at my parents house for awhile.
Then we headed over to Grandma Karath's house for dinner and fun cartoons!

Due to the rain yesterday, we rescheduled our annual trip to the Renaissance Festival for today (ok, almost annual - I missed last year).
They've slowly been expanding a new area over the last few years. They even have a giant blue pirate ship (that doubles as a shop, of course).
Chris and I met up with my parents and we walked around, enjoying the costumes and shows.
The jousting show is always a lot of fun to watch.

I'd highly recommend going if you've never been before. Seriously. The comedy shows alone are worth it, not to mention jousting, turkey legs, a raptor demonstration and more.

Sunday we headed out to Holly, MI for the Michigan Renaissance Festival.  It was still a little muddy from the rain on Saturday but the weather was cool and refreshing.  A welcome change from that of years past.

I've been going to the festival since I was little with my family every year.  Much of the acts are the same, but the atmosphere is great and the whole thing is right up my alley.

As you can see, there are always plenty of interesting outfits and people at the ren fest - all of them friendly.

I even managed to snag another piece to the outfit I've slowly been putting together the last several years. So here's a shot (complete with my toes) because I'm too lazy to wrestle with the cat who likes the laces so late in the day.

I spent a lot of the time behind my digital SLR snapping random photos for a weekly photo comparison posts I do for Lord of the Rings Online.  As a result, I have a lot of photos and a lot to wade through to upload. So this post has just a few and I'll be sure to embed a slideshow to this post once they're all up on flickr.

Edit: 9/27: as promised, embedded slideshow (though not all photos are up at the moment)

The summer is winding down and that means that the Michigan Renaissance Festival is kicked off and in full swing.

This year it was a full group. Kati and her Family were there, though I didn't get a chance to spend much time with them as seems to typically happen each year. My parents, cousins, Amanda, and I invited Chris along to scope out the shindig.

It was a good day - unusually cool. So cool in fact that Nathan wore a cape with his sweater vest. Those Junes are ever doing their own thing with fashion.

So here's a shot of one of the birds from the birds of prey demo. I'm not going to lie - I've forgotten which bird this is. I want to say falcon but that may not be right. :/
