Some bulbs I planted last fall are starting to pop up.

We set up a garden box in the backyard. I still need to fashion a covering for this to prevent deer from eating things, but I have some time.
I also made this berry coffee cake. Since no one else in the house is interested in pastries with fruit, this baby is all mine.
 

All summer squirrels have been eating the tomatoes as they grow on the plants. Finally one has started to turn red. I've given up on one plant and let them pick that clean. This one is off away and harder to get it and has quite a few green ones on it as well.

 A lonely sunflower has bloomed. The rest were all eaten before they could even sprout.

Some cucumbers from the garden. I'm enjoying this a lot of more than I thought I would, and want to set up a proper area next year. I didn't want to commit too much this year since I've always tended to kill plants, but I've been pleasantly surprised this year at what has grown, for what little effort I felt I put in.

Our first cucumber of the season is growing, in-spite of rabbits getting into the netting (they've ravaged the brussel sprouts instead).

I definitely miscalculated pulling this beet. This is not a beet. This is...not much of anything.

Flowers have started to bloom on my tomato plant, and I'm super excited!

Some rabbits chewed through my netting and ate my brussel sprout plants.

I bought some Burpee seeds earlier in the spring, and then some bare root plants in late spring. These little Astibilbe have been doing amazing, considering how bad I am with plants usually. I'm really impressed with the quality of plants and seeds from Burpee over those I've purchased in the past in grocery stores.

I have a few vegetable plants growing, including this tomato plant. Exited to see what food I can harvest in a few months.

It's been a busy day! We opened May's Sago Mini subscription box, which was water themed and came with fun different activities.
Then we spent several hours outdoors. I planted some seeds and day lilies between two of the brick areas we have built out. There's still a lot of work to do on the terraces, but this is a good start.
We also put a little counter up where the 5 year old can run a shop, or have a patio, or anything else he can imagine for his house.

There are two flowers!

My one leggy, lone cucumber from indoor planting has a flower! The others I planted in May are chugging along, but this little guy has been at it since April. The squirrels chomped on the others before I encased the plants in netting.

I have a few spinach plants coming up. I've always been really bad with plants but this year, with so much time home, I'm determined to get better.
