It's been awhile since I've had a chance to spend time with either Dan or Sherry.  There have been a few times where we were going to meet but it just hasn't worked out.  But not today!  Chris and I headed out to Ken-O-Sha to meet up with Sherry and Emilie while Dan was at work.

I had a good time catching up with Sherry, but poor Emilie was not at all happy with new people or the trail.

Today is also day 6 of the Dragon Growth.

Had a picnic in the park (Ken-O-Sha park to be specific) with Sherry, Natalie, and Chris. We snagged some tasty food from Bagel Beanrey, which Sherry had suggested (Asiago Chicken & Bacon sandwich was tasty).

We sat around, caught up on things, then wandered through the path at the park and looked at nature. There are some benches conveniently located along the path if you have never been there.

All in all it was a relaxing Sunday afternoon

Today I headed back out to Ken-O-Sha Park to search for wild strawberries. Don't ask; long story. Anyway, I had hoped to stumble across some off the paved trail. So after riding for a few miles on my bike (on the paved path as I don't have a mountain bike) I headed down a few of the spiraling network of paths throughout the park.

Now you have to remember, all throughout the park is water. In fact the park trail follows Plaster Creek. Because of this there a plethora of mosquitoes abound, buzzing about waiting to attack unsuspecting passersby. Today after spending a few hours there I walked away with about 20 bites on just my legs from wandering. Still, that is not as bad as it could have been.

Alas! I had hoped to have a pretty awesome shot of a mosquito sucking up blood off my leg, but the shot was in dim light and is out of focus so instead you get this. Here's a shot of one of the main unpaved paths in the setting sunlight.

Anyway, I should go buy some bug spray tomorrow.... It seems like I have a never ending cycle of mosquito bites from being out every night.

There's a park near my apartment that's got a short trail that follows Plaster Creek. Its the same place I got lost and ended up walking 2 miles back through sidewalks with Dayzee a month or so ago.

The river was high, and muddy, and I didnt see much in the way of nature, aside from mosquitoes attacking.

Anyway, I got some good riding in and got to snap some photos. Here's a shot of a flower (I'm so not good with names or identifying nature)

Today is the day I promised Dayzee a long, long walk. The weather was nice, the sun was out, and I was going to walk her! So this afternoon we wandered over to Ken-O-Sha park and walked the trail.

We saw a lot of cool stuff - snakes, deer, even kitty cats!

Little did I know, however, that this particular trail did not appear to loop back on itself. I hadn't seen any trail maps along the way, or at the beginning, so i assumed that it was small. Wrong!

Dayzee and I continued on for quite some time until suddenly the path stopped - all that was before us was a dirt trail. Too stubborn to turn back, she and I walked on. Not long after we were deposited out into suburbia.

Now I've always been stubborn and insisted that I had at least a somewhat decent sense of direction. Ok mom and dad, you're right. I dont. You win. I had no idea where I was and I wasnt so sure I could navigate the random maze of trails back.

So I took out my trusty cell phone, complete with GPS and had it look up my location. I was almost two miles away from where I had started - by car.

So through suburbia Dayzee and I walked, all the way from Union Ct SE back to 32nd and KZ (approx 1.8 miles). It took awhile, and Dayzee was exhausted, but we got back.

All in all I think she enjoyed it - and I know I should do this sort of exercising more so...
